Today I created a simple day time look using a few of my favourite basic products. Everyone has their all time favourites that no matter what time of the year it is these products will always come in handy and will never let you down. For me this is my foundation. Your skin can change in the harsh weather conditions and you need to adapt your skin care and makeup to this. I believe that to find your perfect match of foundation you must try out several first before you find ‘the one’. It has taken me a few years and endless sample pots later but I have finally found ‘the one’ which is Giorgio Armani ‘lasting silk UV foundation’. I have this foundation in three shades; (4) is when I have no tan on, (4.5) for when my tan is gradually fading and (5.5) for the day of wearing tan or the next day. The reason why I love this foundation is that it is light weight and my shades are yellow based which covers up my high colouring. Often during the day I like my face to look like I am not wearing any foundation but that still makes my skin look fresh and dewy. This is my favourite day time foundation however, I wear a different foundation for going out as Armani just doesn’t have the coverage I want. I mean what girl wants to top up her makeup all night after a boogy or a few drinks. When I go out I prefer a heavy coverage where as Armani’s foundation is lightweight.
I am recommending this foundation but I would also say you must try it out before buying it. Everyone’s skin type and texture is completely different, what might look good on me might not suit someone who wants a fuller coverage for during the day. I could talk all day about different foundations so onto the rest of the products I used today.
I used Benefit’s ‘Porefessional’ as my primer. I am in LOVE with this primer. I find foundations sit into my pores and when I use this primer my pores vanish…poof! I use it around my nose and chin and it also makes the foundation sit longer on your face! If your skin is feeling dry I would not use too much of this product as I found if there were any flaky patches on my skin it just highlighted them. To avoid this exfoliate before putting your makeup on and try putting an extra layer of your moisturiser on too, this always works for me as my skin tends to be very dry at times. When I was last in with Benefit I decided to try out their ‘Agent Zero Shine’ powder and I think it is up there with the other contenders for my fave powder. I have only used it twice so will have to test it out more before I give my honest opinion but so far so good!
I think most beauty lovers will agree that NARS cream blusher ‘Orgasm’ is probably the best. This creamy blush stick is great for creating a natural soft pink blush with a dash of shimmer going through it. It is also great for building up a colour or popping it on top of a stronger blush. I also have the powder version but I prefer the cream.
Now onto what I used on my eyes. For the base I used MAC’s ‘Vanilla’ which is a soft matte colour. I always use matte shadows as my base as I find it holds the colour for longer. Then I used Max Factor’s ‘Wild Shadow Pot in Burnt Bark’ all over the lid. This shadow is great for a day to night look as you can build the darkness of the colour. I decided not too go too dark as I was creating a day time look. I wanted to go for a bit for of a bronzed look rather than just brown so I added MAC’s ‘Expensive Pink’ shimmer over the ‘burnt bark’ only on the socket of the eye to create that bronze effect. As always I used ‘They’re Real’ mascara and ‘Black Ink’ gel liner to finish off the look. I also used ‘High Brow’ in the water line of my eye as white liner opens up your eyes.
Any questions about the products feel free to ask me. Enjoy the rest of the week ladies.
