Bienvenue to Avenue by Nick Munier

Finally after all the hype, Avenue by Nick Munier opened it’s doors and I could not wait to see what chef Nick Munier had to offer. Avenue by Nick Munier is Nick’s latest venture that combines a love of food with his passion for art. As soon as you enter the restaurant you experience Nick’s personal touches though his artwork. Nick’s artwork is displayed throughout the room but it is the finishing touches that make ‘Avenue’ that extra special place.  The details on the plates, the bespoke white Corian tables & the comfort of the trademark “Avenue by Nick Munier” chairs – and these chairs were amazing, could have stayed all night!

Nick has created not only one but two dining experiences at Avenue – ‘Munier at Avenue’ and ‘Eclair De Luxe at Avenue’ along with an exclusive Parisienne Chic cocktail bar.

Now lets take a look at the good stuff, the menu!

We had the Early Bird menu which was part of TheTaste.ie deal which you can buy here.

I had the ‘Tartare of Salmon’ with Avocado and Lime. All I can say is the flavours were outstanding. The lime mixed with the avocado added a zesty zing! As a huge fish lover this was perfect for me. My boyfriend, Darragh had the ‘Chicken Liver Parfait’. Again the flavours – WOW! The parfait has a smooth texture but a strong taste, delicious as was everything. Of course Darragh let me taste his food, there is no ‘Joey doesn’t share food’ in our relationship!

Now onto our main courses. I ordered the ‘Seared Hake’ with Fennel and Pepper Stew, Parsnip Crisps. As you can see from the photo sheer beauty. I love attention to detail and art through food. I loved my started but I adored my main. Really didn’t want to finish this meal. The fish was cooked to perfection and again the flavours matched the meaty fish. The Pepper Stew worked perfectly with the Hake, I might not of used it with a more delicate fish but Hake is more a meaty fish so they really did compliment themselves.

Darragh had the ‘Onglet Steak’ with Pepper Relish. Only tasted a small bit but it was delicious and Darragh said it was one of his favourite steaks so huge thumbs up! As you can see from the photo below the chips were amazing!

We went out for my birthday and this lovely message was written on my birthday brownie! I don’t know if I should say this but I think it could have been the BEST brownie I have ever tasted…moist, gooey and with a crunchy top filled with hazelnuts!
