Skin Care Must Haves – Facial Oils

My number one winter skin must have has to be a good facial oil/serum. There are so many now on the market that it is so hard to know which is the right one for you and you skin type. Some of these face oils can be used in the morning while others are better at night time because they leave an oily feeling to the skin. In my opinion skincare is all about what feels right on your skin. I love asking people what their skincare routine is because I am so fasinated with the amount of different skincare brands and products on the market right now. There really is such a wide variety of choice. A personal recommendation beats all at the end of the day and that is one of main reasons why I love reading other beauty blogs. I love knowing the opinion of others when it comes to beauty must haves so I like to share my opinion on them too. Let’s take a look at what made the cut into my favourites for this time of the year.

Holos Love Your Skin Anti-Aging Facial Oil- Without a doubt this had to be one of my favourite skincare brands. Holos is an Irish brand created by a fabulous lady Niamh. All of Niamh’s products are handmade but also are holistic. I am a firm believer in holistic oils and treatments so Holos products are always on my ‘must have’ list. The oil in the picture is actually a body oil and I use the face oil from the same range but I had finished mine so for picture purpose I included the body oil. The body oil is really soothing on your skin and I find that after a busy day when I want to unwind I will give my body a mini massage. I find even a good foot massage can really help unwind. I become stressed incredibly easy and I have to say the Holos product range has helped me on more than one occasion. This product feels light on your skin and you won’t be left feeling too oily. Great for people with dry skin. The Holos Love Your Skin Anti-Aging Facial Oil is €22.20 and you can purchase online here, trust me you won’t be disappointed. DSCN4337

YON-KA Serum – I come from a family of beauty therapists who all love beauty more than the other. I love the science behind how our bodies and skin works too. My aunt Milly, introduced me to YON-KA and stocks it in her salon in Cavan, Escape Massage and Beauty. I absolutely adore this brand. This serum is on the pricey side but it is incredible (as you can see my bottle is empty, always a good sign). My skin feels like brand new when I use this product. I cannot talk more highly of a skincare product. This YON-KA Serum is incredibly nourishing on your skin. When my skin gets bad it starts to flake, this is my favourite product to use when my skin needs a boost. It contains Vitamin F which is anti-dehydrating and Vitamin E which is an anti-oxidant. If you want to invest in good skincare then YON-KA is the brand for you. I am currently trying out ‘YON-KA HYDRAN No1 Serum and Creme’ so will report back with how I am getting on with trying these other products.

Sanctuary Therapists Facial Oil – Again I have so much love for this brand. I actually love all of the brands I have featured but this product would be one of the most affordable out of the facial oils. You can buy it in Boots Pharmacy for €23.99 so out of all of these products it is also the easiest to purchase. I love using this product after the shower when my skin feels tight and dehydrated. It really pumps back in the moisture to my skin and leaves a radiant glow. I do notice that when I don’t use facial oils that my skin will look dull which is not a good look.

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Serum –  The bread and butter of Kiehls some would say. Years ago my mum introduced me to Kiehls and this was the very first product I tried. This product is very light on your skin and I love mixing it with my night time moisturiser for an extra boost. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily which I love. The idea of using this Kiehls product at night is so that by morning time your skin will be looking radiant. You can get this product in Kiehls Store on Wicklow Street and in Arnotts in Dublin for €42.50.

So we have our night time serum sorted from Kiehls, but what about a day serum? Can we use a serum during the day or will my skin be oily? Personally my skin needs a serum in the morning, it is that dry! Kiehls have introduced a NEW product in the last few months called Daily Reviving Concentrate €42.50. I was kindly gifted this product but I really liked it. It smells completely different to the Midnight Recovery Serum as Sunflower extract is one of the main ingredients. As I work in front of a computer screen all day I found this product really helped my skin against the pollution. Some may not know that your working conditions can affect your skin with the glare from the screens plus the heat from the computer. I am currently doing some research into anti-pollution products that will help my skin.

These are my recommendations for facial oils that I have tried on my dry skin. I would love to hear from you if you have tried a product that you think I would like. Tweet me @k8_kell or snapchat me on (katekelly1). If you are finding your skin really dry, try some of these and let me know if they worked for you.

Stay Fabulous,
