The hunt for the holy grail foundation seems like an endless mission. I have tried numerous different types of foundation but I also need a selection of foundation for different occasions. I have fair skin when I don’t have my Cocoa Brown Tan on so I like to wear light foundations and BB creams. When I have my Cocoa Brown 1 HOUR TAN DARK on I need a fuller coverage foundation that is darker in shade.
In this post I am going to go through my week of foundations. Every week is different but this is a rough guide for what foundations I recommend and suit my skin colouring. I documented everyday last week on my snapchat (UN: katekelly1) and here is the follow up so you can learn more about each foundation.
I am on day 3 of wearing my Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter 1 HOUR TAN DARK so I am wearing my favourite foundation of the moment, Flormar ‘Perfect Coverage Foundation’ Shade 101. This is my new beauty obsession and I talk about it constantly because it is the most similar to the Armani Foundation that I adore! I have been on the hunt for a cheaper version of my all time favourite Armani and I think I have found it. No, it is not a dupe but texture wise it is so similar and the way it sits on my skin is flawless. Yes I said it…flawless. I have 3 shades of this Flormar foundation, I love it that much. A slight heavier coverage than the Armani foundation but I can’t find any flaws with this Flormar foundation. For stockist information you to Flormar’s Facebook page here.

I only apply a small amount of tan on my face and I use Gentle Bronze Gradual Tan from Cocoa Brown. It’s Oil-Free and Non-Comedogenic so it’s won’t clog your pores. I applied another layer last night as cleansing and cell renewal means tan doesn’t last as long on your face as it does on your body. I had the gym straight after work today so I’m wearing the BB cream in Light from BellaPierre, you can get this in Bio Fresh Salon. This is a recent beauty product into my life and I really like it. My boss, Marissa Carter recommended it and I really like the texture and staying power. I normally don’t like BB cream’s but this is like no other. I wore it to the gym before and found that it worked well without clogging my pores. When I wear tan on my face I don’t actually need a lot of coverage but just a little top up to cover redness areas on my face. Because of the high SPF in this product I did find it slightly thicker than other BB Creams but the lasting power on the skin is so much better. As far as BB creams go this one is top on my list.

On Wednesday’s I wear pink…. and play tag rugby! I always wear a small amount of makeup even though I am playing a sport (I know) but I find it very hard to wear no foundation what so ever when out and about. I picked up this Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation at the airport months ago when I realised that I hadn’t packed any foundation for my weekend away. I had never used it before and love trying new products. I have a love/hate relationship with this product. I love the colour. The shade is 2.0 and is perfect when I am pale or don’t want to look like I am wearing too much makeup. However, it does leave my skin looking dry. The texture is incredibly light which I love but it sinks into any dry patches on my skin. I would recommend this foundation is you don’t have dry skin. I think this Urban Decay Foundation will be perfect for my skin in the summer when I want a super light coverage and my skin is less dry. Keeping it until then.

I had an event on today so I wanted my foundation to last all day. I tanned last night so this is the darkest my skin will be all week. I am wearing Youngblood Mineral Foundation in ‘Golden Tan’. This foundation is amazing for dry skin as it contains hydra-smoothing concentrate, so dry areas become incredibly smooth with a perfect dewy finish. It’s perfect for when your skin needs a “boost” of hydration to achieve a healthy-looking glow. The reason I wore this foundation was so that I wouldn’t need to top up my makeup. I find that it stays in place without having to top up and is also not too heavy. When I attend events often you are rushing to get to the event and the room can be so hot that you pray your foundation isn’t going patchy. This foundation is a perfect colour on my skin with my Cocoa Brown Glow but the texture is not too cakey either.

So I decided to take casual Friday to a whole new level and wore no foundation to work. I love the feeling of not having any makeup on and it was a refreshing break. After work I went for dinner with one of my good friends and decided to get all glammed up, sure why not. I wore my MAC Cosmetics Studio Sculpt in NC30 This foundation does not budge which is ideal for a night out in bars and clubs. I only wear this MAC foundation on nights out and love how well it makes my skin look in photos.

Busy day shopping with my mum calls for a foundation that will last. As it’s day 3 of my Cocoa Brown Tan I am opting for a lighter colour in my medium foundation collection. Again I hate topping up my makeup when I am out and about so I used my favourite foundation which is Armani Luminous Silk Foundation 4.5. I only wear this on ‘good’ occasions. The reason why I love wearing it is because you feel as if you are wearing no makeup but yet your skin looks perfect. It really does give a flawless finish and I adore it. If only it was not as expensive. It will always have a place in my heart as my favourite foundation.

Chill day! Today consisted of actually not doing much at all. I did my food shop, and went to the cinema so I wanted a really light foundation look. I am getting very close to the end of this foundation and it will be repurchased as it is up there in the top faves. I adore how light this Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation is. Three years ago I worked on a Benefit counter and really got to love this brand. It’s not often that I love a brand as a whole but Benefit has always stood out to me. It was actually my first makeup purchase in Brown Thomas when I was a teenager when I bought their BadGal Lash. This foundation is great for brightening your skin and that is exactly what I needed on Sunday.
