My hair care secrets

One of the most frequent questions I am asked on my blog regularly is about my hair. I have written a few posts about products I use on my hair and you can read them here, here & here but I wanted to give you a little update as of recently I have changed things up a bit. Since changing my ‘hair routine’ I have really noticed a difference in my hair. I’m going to let you in on some of my secrets!

1. Find an hairdresser that can give you an amazing cut

I am going to let you in on a secret about me that many people don’t know…I have a phobia of getting my hair cut. Up until recently I used to go home (to Cavan) to the hairdresser that has cut my hair since I was a child. She knows my hair so well but I don’t go home that often so it was time to find someone in Dublin to become my hairdresser. Back in June I was at an event and a girl called Sarah came up to myself & Stephanie. She introduced herself and we got chatting and she said she would love to do both of our hairs someday. Did you ever meet someone and just have a really good feeling about them, well I had this feeling with Sarah and I trusted her to cut my hair and it has been the best hair cut of my life! Even when I don’t style my hair it just sits perfect. I’m looking forward to the next time I need a hair cut already (I never thought I would EVER say that). I’m going to leave Sarah’s details below and make sure to follow her on Instagram!  Sarah can also come out to your house to do your hair, she really is just amazing!

2. Use products that are gentle on your scalp

If you follow my blog you will know that I have had terrible issues with my scalp and irritation on it. The past few months I have had no trouble with my scalp and it’s thanks to Marissa Carter creating her Kind Shampoo & Conditioner. My scalp doesn’t burn after I wash it, there is no itchiness and the volume the shampoo adds is incredible! Lucky for you ladies the Cocoa Brown Kind Shampoo & Conditioner 200ml are now available in Penneys and pharmacies nationwide for only €3 each!

3. Invest in good tools

I was the type of girl who used any old brush on my hair and wouldn’t know the effect it actually had on my hair. When my hair is wet I use a Tangle Tamer so that it’s gentle on any knots I have and it got me thinking what about when I blow dry my hair and the hair brushes I use. I was introduced to FARO brush by my boss, Marissa Carter and I have really noticed a difference in the finish of my hair. What makes FARO brushes so amazing you ask?

Each brush has a ceramic, iconic coated barrel that retains heat and helps prevent breakage when styling.  Their steel pin bristles are super for thicker hair and our ultra light design provides more grip for a comfortable blow-dry.

They are pricey but worth the investment if you have damaged hair and use a lot of heat to style your hair. Cara pharmacy have them in store and online for €49 or you can buy them in Dublin Airport in The Loop Duty Free Shopping for €43.

4. Have Braid Queen Niamh Cullen style your hair!

Niamh Cullen deserves an award for her hair styles. Niamh regularly posts videos on her snapchat (niamhycxo) and her Youtube channel of different styles she has created. I want Niamh to do my hair everyday, she has such talent! You can follow Niamh on Instagram & she will be launching her blog very soon so watch this space for ‘Behind The Braids’. Niamh is an amazing girl and the ultimate sweetheart that I am lucky to call a friend.

Stay Fabulous,

Love Kate x
