I’m back!!! Woo! After a 5 month blogging break I’m happy to be back. Life got a little crazy and I lost my flair for writing but I’m BACK and cannot wait to show you what I have planned. With a crazy, busy life what better way to be start back blogging than with a post about how I manage this crazy life of mine. Sometimes you need to take a step back, look at what’s important and always remember to do you! I’m happier than ever and hope you find these tips helpful.
Cooking: A couple of months ago I went weeks without doing a shop. I’d eat out, snack and just eat whatever, whenever. I wasn’t thinking about what I was fueling my body with and sometimes could go the day without eating, just having coffee!! About a month ago I had a reality check and decided it’s time to cop on and look after myself. I set a goal of cooking at least 1 of my meals a day and now a month later I rarely eat out, unless with work and I’m feeling great! I’ve more energy than ever and I know exactly what is going into my body. I never thought food could have so much control over my mentally but since changing my diet it really has made me happier.
Diary: This is probably such a cliche but if I don’t write things down I won’t remember it. Work is crazy for me and with so much happening my diary is like my bible! You’ll be surprised with what you forget when you don’t write things down. If you aren’t into a physical diary then you need the app ‘Evernote’ in your life. It’s basically an online notebook but you can email it to friends, colleagues and so on! I love the layout and makes everything super organised! Skincare: When you look good you feel good. As I work in the beauty industry, appearance is everything. This is by personal choice of course but when your skin looks good you feel ten times better about yourself. Every 6 weeks I get a facial, I’ve been trying Image and Guinot facials from In Vogue Beauty Salon in Blackrock and my skin has never looked better. Spending a little bit extra on your skin in my opinion is worth it. Not only will you thank yourself in your 40’s but it’s also a great way to relax and unwind. I always fall asleep when I go for a facial so for me I’m relaxing while looking after my skin, win win!
Make the morning matter: Even if it means getting up 30 minutes early I always get the bus to work rather than drive. Not only is it cheaper but I also get a head start on my emails. My bus journey is usually 20 minutes and then I get off 2 stops early for an extra 20 minute walk. I spend my time on the bus catching up and checking what my day is going to be like and reply to anything on social media from the weekend. Then I spend my 20 minute walk listening to music and just enjoying the morning. I am all about positive energy and starting the day on the right note and on time is how I like to roll. I like to be prepared for what my day will look like and what’s ahead of me. It also means I have zero fear when I get into the office because I’ve already seen any emails that came in super early! This might not work for everyone but it’s all about balance in the morning and making it work for you.
Don’t be so hard on yourself: Trust me this is the hardest and it’s taken me a long time to accept that everything isn’t perfect all the time. Things happen, problems occur and people annoy you but it’s life and you can’t let things get in the way of your life. So unless it’s a life of death matter, leave it at the door, write it down and leave it for tomorrow’s to do list! Don’t let these things get the better of you and upset you. When I find myself getting in a ’tissy’ about something I write it down and say to myself; ‘it can wait until tomorrow, time to enjoy the rest of your day’. It’s hard but you can’t let your job take over your life, it’s just not healthy. It’s all about work life balance.
I’m adding a 6th in here you know because 5 just isn’t enough but always make time for the people around you. Friends and family are the most important things in your life and without them it’s pretty lonely. Even if it’s a quick voice call on what’s app (these are amazing and so handy) or a simple text, don’t forget about them! Everyone is busy and even when you feel you are struggling and don’t have time, you don’t know what they are going through.
